Industry Could Not Save His Finger:

My grandfather, on my fathers side, was a very tall man. He was largely Native American. That makes me twice removed largely Native American. I believe that people with a healthy dose of Native American in them, better than %60, have an incredibly high tolerance for pain. Maybe it's ancestral, passed down genetically with the knowledge that the boys will become men and the men will be warriors.

My grandfather was a farmer. He farmed the UGA dairy farm and quite a few other farms as a share cropper. My dad was raised on these farms. All of this is a post in and of itself for a later time. The real story is that my grandfather cut his finger off while working in the garden on a spring afternoon.

Instead of going to the hospital, he picked it up off the ground, tucked the nub into his shirt pocket, and went back to gardening. Eventually my dad came outside and freaked out, rightfully so. He got to the hospital, but it was too late for the finger. If only they had trowels with the technology in the videos after the jump for . Take the jump.

And the technology behind it.

R.I.P. Pepa, I hope you got your finger back.

This Is A Big Horse:

I love home shopping channel bloopers. This guy is so super commited to his material that he never doubts his cards/teleprompter. Oh, and the way he recovers. Classic professionalism if I've ever seen it. This guy will be around for a long time in the world of televised home shopping. Mark my words, a long time. Take the jump for the video.

Gesundheit

That's a normal response when I say, Voddie Baucham. Especially if I say it really fast, voddiebaucham. Say it a few times to yourself. He's not a sneeze, in fact he's a whooping cough of a man. I gotta believe he is offensive lineman material. Also, he is a stout Bible teacher and his writing and teaching has been a large help in my life. His new book, Family Driven Faith, is a look at the purpose of the family in discipleship of their children. This book has been radical in it's reworking of my view of youth ministry.

Follow the jump for a link to a few different Voddie resources.

One last thing about the Falcons:

Here is a story about the next potential offensive coordinator. Falcons seek to hire Mularkey as coordinator. No, that's not Malarkey. . or phooey, that Mike Mularky. He's been a head coach and all sorts of other coaches and coordinators. Take the leap to see the one thing in the article that really stuck out to me and how I think it will change the way people expect us to draft.

In the article, about three-quarters down(Unintentional Football Pun) there was this quote. "Mularkey's reputation fits new head coach Mike Smith's philosophy about run the football with authority to set up the vertical passing attack."

Ovie Mughelli, Jerious Norwood, and Warrick Dunn are all fine runners and back field assets. In fact I can't heap enough praise on God for making Warrick Dunn as little as he is and still making him able to be a successful running back this late in his career. Jerious Norwood is very, very fast and has a great future ahead of him if he can stand up long enough to make a cut. Ovie Mughelli is over paid, a good Full Back, but over paid. You'll notice I didn't give any of them the title of authoritative. We need an authoritative running back.

So, I'm going against popular consensus and saying that the Atlanta Falcons will in fact skip a first round QB and pick up Darren Mcfadden, RB, Arkansas. Of course I defer back to popular consensus if he is picked before we can get him. I'm like psychic, trust me.

We Have a Coach!

I can't repeat this enough, we have a coach! I for one am excited about this new coach. Mr. Mike Smith, defensive coordinator to the Jacksonville Jaguars is the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. Take the jump to read some snippets from the announcement and some more of my thoughts.

Mike is going to help us have our first back-to-back winning seasons, it may not happen next season, but it will happen within four seasons. . .and now a quote.

"Mike possesses all of the key qualities we were looking for in a head coach," said general manager Thomas Dimitroff, in his first month on the job.

-This is the college scouter for the New England Patriots, the "undefeated" New England Patriots. Doubt him at your own risk.

Dimitroff said the 48-year-old Smith, a nine-year NFL coaching veteran, "has strong experience with winning teams, a track record of success, a solid, smart approach to the game, and high character and integrity."

-Now he has the worst offense in the history of football. Good thing he's a defense guy!

Smith will be Atlanta's sixth coach since December 2003. Before Petrino quit, Dan Reeves and Jim Mora were fired. Wade Phillips and Thomas worked three games each as interim replacements.

-Sixth times a charm.

The team did not wait on an interview with New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. The Falcons were denied permission to interview Spagnuolo while the Giants, preparing for the Super Bowl, are in the postseason.

-I only hope that this doesn't come back to bite us in the butt. Seriously, have you seen the Giants defense? It is horrifying! I bet this is going to be one of the first times this season that Tom Brady really gets pressured. I like Mike, but the Giants D is potent.

All in all, I am very excited about having a new head coach and heading into the super bowl we can think about draft day fairies dancing around top picks.

PS. Have you noticed the guys we've hired and looked at, Spagnulo, Demitroff, and Petrino? I'm glad I get an easy name to shout at when the passing game stinks.

What a waste:

I can't believe I wasted my first post of 2008 on stupid American Gladiators. How depressing. And here is the rest of it.

American Sadiators:

I actually really enjoyed the new American Gladiators that came on tonight. It did make me sad though that the challengers did so well. Maybe it's just early Gladiatorial jitters, but, I can't watch guys named Mayhem and Wolf get their stuff handed to them by guys smaller than me.

The whole point of American Gladiators wasn't to watch the average guy rise to the top it was to watch two average guys duke it out and get pummeled by the best of the best.

Maybe, Monday. And here is the rest of it.
