Science and Abortion:
This is an article from i09 and I disagree with a lot of it. Though when we do agree it is so resounding that it makes it even harder for me to understand how we disagree at all. Here is a quote from the article,
"Besides, Weitz added, women's perspectives on unwanted pregnancies change once they've actually had their children. "It was unintended, they didn't want it, but then the child is there and they love their children," she said. It would be hard to ask women in that position about having an unwanted child, since they have ultimately come to want it.”
The big issues between the author, the researcher, and myself is the frame of reference from which we view this issue. Mine is based in a Biblical view of humanity and their, I believe, is not.
At the end the author says,
"One of the greatest investments women make, both financially and emotionally, is in their kids. But we live in a nation that provides almost no assistance to low-income women who want to be mothers. As long as this is the case, women will never truly be making a free choice about whether to give birth.”
The whole end of the article makes me think that maybe we’re getting closer to valuing all life. We “Pro-lifers” have to make sure that we are defending life from conception to death. Check it out and feel free to leave a comment.
